Cardiac and Respiratory Monitoring [10/05]

Be sure to put in the appropriate level of respiratory and/or cardiac monitoring on all patients that you admit to the floors (including ICU transfers).

Often, the level of monitoring upon transfer to the floor will need to change. You will need to do this using the *pediatric* monitoring screens. (e.g. Do not use the adult telemetry screen).

As part of daily workrounds, monitoring should be discussed/reviewed within the appropriate problem heading (e.g. Resp monitoring within the Asthma problem; Cardiac monitoring within the SVT or hyperkalemia problem).
