General Pediatrics

Yale faculty pediatricians provide preventative health care and urgent care to children in the greater New Haven area. Every day, our pediatricians care for healthy newborns in the Well New-Born Unit of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. In our clinics, we treat children with a broad range of childhood problems: rheumatology, Lyme disease, developmental and behavioral disorders, abuse and sexual abuse, premature infancy. We provide routine vaccinations, screen for childhood illness, and provide positive parenting support and programming. We place our doctors in the communities in which their children live, providing those doctors with perspective on social, cultural and family dynamic stresses on their patients. And, we evaluate and treat newly adopted children from other countries, providing their parents and them with the support they need to form lasting family ties. Our Center for Children with Special Health Care Needs provides support and resources for families and the special children for whom they care and love.

We see patients at the Pediatric Primary Care Center and at the Pediatric Specialty Clinic of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. The research in and ongoing development of the electronic medical record is an asset for our pediatric patients in both settings, creating outstanding ease of access to information and improving day-to-day care of our patients. We teach residents and medical students in the Primary Care Clinic of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and also teach in our specific areas of clinical interest. We offer a Fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. The Pediatric Medical Student Clerkship is directed by our faculty. The Adopt-A-Doc Program places residents and interns in patient homes in underserved communities. More about Education

Our faculty investigators research their areas of clinical interest, including general pediatric conditions and disorders, rheumatology, Lyme Disease, child maltreatment, developmental and behavioral issues, and international child health. More about our Research
