Pediatric IBD Program
The Yale Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program is devoted to the care of children with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). Inflammatory Bowel Diseases are chronic gastrointestinal disorders such as Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. IBD in children can present with various symptoms including abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood in stools, and poor weight gain. It is estimated that approximately 50,000 children suffer from IBD in the United States and the numbers are rising.
Research
We are a participating site for the DEVELOP Registry for Pediatric IBD. We also participate in a research study to assess genetic base of inflammatory bowel disease in children.
